On a regular basis, CUCC’s Council Moderator Mike Cline will share emerging guidance from the “Path Forward” task force as CUCC responds to the pandemic. Information from previous articles is also available below.
Almost 100 CUCC members responded to the Path Forward survey, providing helpful guidance on the congregation’s comfort level with various activities over the coming months. You can view the survey data here.
Based on your feedback, as well as data about vaccination and infection rates, the task force is recommending that hybrid in-person/online services begin in early September. We’ll start with a relatively small number of people in the sanctuary and increase those numbers as we monitor local, state and national safety guidance. Over the summer, the necessary electronic equipment will be purchased to facilitate streaming, and volunteers identified and trained.
In the coming months, many of our activities, including worship, will continue to be virtual while we also increase the number of in-person options, like outdoor fellowship events. Please select the activities that work best with your comfort level.
To facilitate in-person options, the Vaughan Fellowship Hall is now available for gatherings of up to 15 CUCC members, following the guidelines below. Outdoor events for members and renters can now accommodate up to 50 people, again following the guidelines below.
Our leadership team encourages you to get vaccinated if you are able, and those who don’t feel well or who have been exposed to someone with COVID-19 are urged to stay home. More information on current CDC vaccine guidelines can be found in this link. If you need assistance in getting vaccinated, please contact Pastor Lacey.
If you haven’t yet completed the Path Forward survey, please take a moment to share your thoughts. You may also provide feedback directly to Pastor Lacey at lacey.cucc@gmail.com or Council Moderator Mike Cline at cucccouncil@gmail.com. Thank you!
How do I schedule an indoor meeting (church members only) or an outdoor meeting?
Use Zoom or At-CUCC Room Request Form.
How many people can now meet on church grounds?
Currently up to 50 people may meet on church grounds. Anyone wishing to schedule an event should use our Zoom or At-CUCC Room Request Form to place the event on the church calendar and acknowledge a set of safety guidelines for which he/she will be responsible. You can also find the form in Breeze in the Useful Documents section.
Are indoor meetings permitted?
The Vaughan Fellowship Hall (VFH) can be used for church member events of up to 15 people. Just as for outdoor events, the event coordinator should use our Zoom or at CUCC Room Request Form to place the event on the church calendar and acknowledge a set of safety guidelines for which he/she will be responsible. Events, which should last no more than 60 minutes, are limited to 15 people who wear masks and sit at least 3’ apart. The kitchen, as well as the rest of the building, is off limits for safety reasons.
Guidelines for CUCC groups using the Vaughan Fellowship Hall (VFH)
(Jane Smith will share the guidelines with the event coordinator, and ask for acknowledgement by email, before placing the event on the church calendar.)
To keep attendees and their contacts safe, I agree to:
• Limit the number of people at the event to 15.
• Limit the event time to 60 minutes.
• Space the chairs to allow at least 3’ of distance between attendees.
• Require that masks be worn by everyone while in the VFH.
• Agree to keep all attendees in the VFH. (For safety reasons, the rest of the building is off-limits.)
• Encourage anyone using the restroom to follow the written instructions about sanitizing procedure.
• Ask that attendees not bring food or beverages so that masks do not have to be removed.
• Keep a list of all attendees for at least two weeks to assist in contact tracing, if necessary.
• At the end of the event, turn off all lights, hit “Cancel” on the thermostat if the HVAC setting changed, wipe down all doorknobs and light switches with a disinfectant towelette and lock all doors.
