A Prayer for Our Nation

“I lift up my eyes to the hills from where will my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth” (Psalms 121:1-2)

For the healing of our nation Lord, hear our prayer!

For the sanctity of our Democracy Lord, in your infinite wisdom, hear our prayer!

For those who have been hurt, injured and yes killed as a result of the violence and insurrection Lord, hear our prayer!

For our leaders who are called to serve the people and who stand back and do nothing Lord, hear our prayer!

For the leaders who will assume the mantle of governance to guide this nation with courage and dignity Lord, hear our prayer!

For those who have lost their lives during this time of COVID-19 Lord, hear our prayer!

For the families who have been unable to care for their loved ones and to be with them in their hour of suffering Lord, hear our prayer!

For the people in Georgia who have been twice divided by our political system that has gone awry Lord, hear our prayer!

For those who are unwilling to accept the truth and to live with the results of our election Lord hear our prayer!

For those who hide themselves under the shadow of patriotism when their behavior is about anarchy Lord, hear our prayer!

For the faith community who consistently are silent in times of injustice Lord, hear our prayer!

For the failed leadership that has governed this nation during this period of time Lord, hear our prayer!

For the children who have to witness the instability of the leadership of our nation Lord, hear our prayer!

For all of us who are witnesses to the truth and to the pain and suffering of this nation and who see themselves as unable to halt the plundering of our society Lord, hear our prayer!

For the division that exists between races and cultures Lord, hear our prayer!

For those who do not accept the humanity in one another Lord, hear our prayer!

Finally, Lord forgive us for the hurt and harm that we have caused to one another, Lord hear our prayer!

And Father, forgive us for in your site have we committed these atrocities.

Have mercy on us as a nation, as individuals and as a collective body of people, Lord hear our prayer!
