Newssouper bowl crock pots

The recent “Souper Bowl” found 50+ people enjoying nine tasty soups created by CUCC chefs along with a delicious assortment of breads. As part of our community’s “extravagant welcome,” all of the ingredients for homemade and storebought food were provided next to each item. Those with food allergies or sensitivities could participate in the meal without concern.

The event also featured information and photos on CUCC’s efforts to reduce local and world-wide food insecurity. A big thank you to Jeff for assembling photos and information on Rise Against Hunger, the CROP Hunger Walk, Urban Ministries food bags, Meals on Wheels, Bread for the World and the Helen Wright Center dinner program.

Speaking of CUCC’s support of Urban Ministries, the congregation donated 231 pounds of nonperishable items in conjunction with the Souper Bowl. Our 2026 goal is to collect 2,000 pounds – an even ton – for the pantry. Thanks for bringing needed items the first Sunday of each month.
