Community UCC will be joining St. Paul’s Christian Church for Ash Wednesday. Our congregations have a long tradition of worshipping together and this year we will meet on Zoom. The meeting will begin at 6:30pm for those who’d like to enjoy casual conversation before the start of the service. Bring your dinner if you’d like. Worship will begin at 7:00pm.
Ash Wednesday is the day many Christians mark as the first day of Lent, a time of reflection and penitence leading up to Easter Sunday. The 40-day observance of Lent is supposed to mirror Jesus’ 40-day journey in the wilderness where he faced temptation and prevailed. Many people take on a new spiritual practice during Lent, or they try to give something up so that they can better focus on their relationship with God.
