NewsCelebrate the installation of the Rev. Dr. Karen Georgia Thompson, GMP of the UCC, October 20 at 5PM ET, livestreamed

During our visioning conversations, members of CUCC expressed a desire that we would connect more to our denomination, the United Church of Christ.  On Friday, October 20, we have the opportunity to attend via livestream the installation of the new General Minister and President of the UCC, Rev. Dr. Karen Georgia Thompson.  Gather with the entire UCC across time zones for prayer and blessing at 5PM, ET.

The livestream link is not yet available, but will be found on this page.

If you don’t know much about Rev. Thompson and why she is an excellent choice to lead our denomination, watch this video.  Read a brief biography here.

What does the General Minister and President do?

The GMP has four major areas of responsibility:

  • Spiritual Leader of the Church
  • Theological Interpreter of the UCC’s theological perspectives and values
  • Convener of the Meetings of the UCC
  • Chief Executive Officer of the UCC

The GMP serves as an ex officio member of every UCC board or commission you can think of and is the official representative of the UCC in ecumenical, interdenominational, and interfaith relations.
