CUCC Better Than Average Auction

Part silliness, part good cause

The annual auction is a major fun- and fund-raising event at CUCC.  We gather as CUCC to bid, hear corny jokes, snack and imbibe, and hang out together.  The money raised makes a significant contribution to our budget, allowing us to support our amazing staff, share our building with community groups, support opportunities for learning and worship, and make financial contributions to groups doing justice work.  The items on auction come from us!

Come to the auction to bid on above-average items, come to laugh and perhaps see your CUCC friends in a different light. The auction evening is divided into time for mingling and bidding on about 60 silent auction items and then a live auction of 30ish items, hosted by our auctioneer. Look for special guest appearances by past auction stars Chuck Porterhouse and Blip Scuppernong who are sure to be a valuable addition to the proceedings. Everyone gets in on the act as many talents are showcased on auction night and then all year long at the social events we create!  Child care is provided so that our youngest children can bop into the auction, or go play with their friends.

What if I can’t come to the auction on April 23?

You can still bid on items. Ask a friend who is attending the auction to bid on your behalf Saturday night.  Use the catalog (April 19 version, changes possible) to identify on which items you will bid and how much is your maximum bid.  Fill out the proxy and give it to your friend.  Susan Atkinson will be in touch after the auction to tell you what you won and how much you owe CUCC.  [Your total will include the $5 paddle fee.]

A word about money (AKA, this is a fun(d)raiser folks!)

Bring a checkbook.  It’s free to enter the event, and $5 if you are purchasing the paddle you’ll need for bidding.

Before you leave, drop by the check out table to pay for your purchases.  Checks are preferred; checks have no transaction fees to take a bite out of your gift to CUCC’s ministries.  If you choose to use a credit card, please consider covering the transaction fees.

For those bidding by proxy, Susan Atkinson will be in touch to tell you what items you won and your total (including the bidding paddle).

Thank you for supporting the ministries of CUCC!
