Life & Faith is all about casual conversation and that means being able to hear each other. For our October 5 gathering we are moving to the Panera off of Lake Boone Trail.
Panera, 2410 Landmark Drive, Raleigh, NC 27607
Arrive by 6:45* PM to buy your food or beverage, then look for our table with the red Life & Faith comma centerpiece. We’ll begin conversation at 7:00 and end by 8:00. Bring a question you’d like the group to discuss; how is what you believe bumping up against the day to day? If no one has a question, we’ll discuss a backup question prepared by convener Jane Smith.
October backup question
Two months ago we talked about techniques for developing the habits of compassion that are necessary for building community. What else does a community need to thrive? How about humor!
Do you use humor as a tool for healthy relationship building? Which types of humor are comfortable for you, which are not, and why? When has a shared fit of the giggles broken a tense moment? Do we cultivate and make a place for humor enough at CUCC, at work, and in our service and advocacy? Who are the people who bring the gift of humor to our community?
We could spend the hour intellectualizing about humor, but let’s not. Bring funny stories from your life. Let’s share jokes, laugh-filled movie and book recommendations, even favorite Bible passages that would have worked for a standup comedian. Bring a cartoon that cracked you up. If we start getting too “thinky,” Jane is going to subject you to bad jokes and you definitely don’t want that!
If you’d like to receive the monthly email reminder for Life & Faith or if you have questions about what really happens when we get together, talk to Jane Smith (contact info in Breeze or via office.cucc@gmail.com).
*Why 6:45? So that folks who are being a public witness ringing bells for A Peals for Peace have time to get to the restaurant. If you are the first person to arrive at Panera, grab a table for 8. We’ll arrive soon.
