Who makes life better for those without the power and influence to advocate for a more just and peaceful world?
Nominate a local person for the Carolyn and Cy King Peace and Justice Award by May 31.

Past recipients have included Reverends William Barber II and Collins Kilburn, Patrick O’Neal, Slater Newman, Peg and Mac Hulslander, Dr. John Paar, Jim Smith, Adrienne and John Little, Joan McAllister and Sue Cottle.  (Find the entire list here)

We are soliciting nominations of individuals who embody the spirits of service and grace and work toward justice and peace in our community and world.

We seek nominees who have done outstanding work for several years or more in such areas including BUT NOT LIMITED TO

  • civil rights,

  • racial justice,

  • creation/environmental justice,

  • cash bail reform, criminal law, prisons, and jails,
  • community and world peace and reconciliation,

  • disability rights,

  • economic justice, including affordable housing,

  • gender equity and justice,

  • LGBTQ and transgender rights,

  • educational reform.

 

The submission deadline is May 31, 2023. The Selection Committee this year includes Etta Barksdale, Chris Heaney, and Diana Koenning.
