We are very proud of our children and youth programs.

Every Sunday morning, our beautiful church school is filled with energy and the sweet spirit of young people learning and growing in faith and love. Midweek opportunities to have fun, learn and serve vary by age group.  Our classes are taught by church members and church staff who have undergone background checks and been well prepared for this important work.  We recognize that parents need support, too; our staff is here to support you.

We offer a nursery during 10:30 worship and at special events; we welcome your children ages 0-3. Staffed by professional caregivers with background checks, the nursery is an inviting space where children can play and experience God’s love.

The nursery has a rocking chair for parents who want to feed and cuddle their children.

Our children are a very special part of Community United Church of Christ. We strive for the children to know that they are valued and loved members of our congregation. Each Sunday during worship children ages preschool-5th grade participate in Sunday School. We offer worship, the lesson and outdoor activities as the weather permits. The children participate in the Blessing of the Animals in the fall each year and enjoy a hot dog cookout with their families each spring.

For more information about how we support children and their families, contact Anne Bailey Zschau, Director of Children’s Ministries.

Welcome to the CUCC Youth Group! We are a thriving, dynamic, and varied mixture of kind, insightful middle and high school youth who:

  • are an integral part of our church family
  • welcome everyone
  • devote ourselves to forming and nurturing connections to each other and to God
  • value laughter and curiosity
  • share our gifts and our time generously
  • work to keep anyone from being marginalized
  • practice safe church policies and are dedicated to caring for ourselves and each other responsibly.

During this time of COVID-19, we are finding many creative ways to continue to be church to one another and to the community. We gather both on Zoom and in safe, socially distanced gatherings on the church grounds. We also stay in touch through snail mail, group texts and group emails. We have continued to provide opportunities for worship, study, fellowship, service, and ministry.

Whether creating interactive racial justice signs, providing leadership in worship, building an All Saint’s Day memorial walk, or writing and filming a Christmas pageant, we continue to look at how our faith connects to our lives and to share how those connections inspire us.

We are a welcoming community of equality and grace and embrace all ways of thinking about the Holy. We value authenticity and the knowledge that we are (each one of us) beloved. We practice demonstrating God’s love and being open to receive it.  We acknowledge and own our responsibility to minister to others in our church family and beyond. We help one another to both celebrate the joys and cope with the challenges that life brings. We strive to love all our neighbors and to care for all of creation.

2023 BYC summer camp for youth is Sunday, July 2- Friday, July 7.  Registration is due by Sunday, May 28. Final payment is due by Sunday, June 11.  Download registration forms here.
