We are very proud of our children and youth programs.

Every Sunday morning, our beautiful church school is filled with energy and the sweet spirit of young people learning and growing in faith and love. Midweek opportunities to have fun, learn and serve vary by age group.  Our classes are taught by church members and church staff who have undergone background checks and been well prepared for this important work.  We recognize that parents need support, too; our staff is here to support you.

We offer a nursery during 10:30 worship and at special events; we welcome your children ages 0-3. Staffed by professional caregivers with background checks, the nursery is an inviting space where children can play and experience God’s love.

The nursery has a rocking chair for parents who want to feed and cuddle their children.

Our children are a very special part of Community United Church of Christ. We strive for the children to know that they are valued and loved members of our congregation. Each Sunday during worship children ages preschool-5th grade participate in Sunday School. We offer worship, the lesson and outdoor activities as the weather permits. The children participate in the Blessing of the Animals in the fall each year and enjoy a hot dog cookout with their families each spring.

We have a great group of about 12-15 youth in middle school and high school. Our youth have varied and wonderful interests, talents, ideas, and beliefs. Every Sunday morning except for the first Sunday of the month, we join in the first half hour of worship at 10:30 a.m., and then leave the service after a children’s message for about 45 minutes of Sunday School together. On the first Sunday of the month, youth remain in the sanctuary for communion worship with their families.
We also meet at least once a month for various activities including:

service projects
game nights
outdoor adventures
church-wide activities
retreats, trips, and summer camps

At least once a year we plan a youth–led worship service that includes many forms of creative expression. These services are a favorite of our congregation and are among the most well attended services of the year.

This is one of our collaborative youth statements of faith:

We believe in living deeply, laughing often, and caring always.
We believe we were brought together to support and care for each other.
We believe in celebrating together: our faith, our customs, our traditions.
We believe that everyone’s ideas and feelings count, and that the uniqueness of each of us strengthens all of us.
We believe in the power of forgiveness to heal, and the power of love to carry us through.
We believe in God, and in this church, and in this group, and in this place.

Join us on the journey!
