The Community Outreach Ministry (COM) introduces the congregation to opportunities to address the practical needs of people now.
Most projects are one-and-done, with opportunities to pitch in on a hands-on volunteer project, walk to raise funds with a local group, or donate specific items to a local nonprofit. These are often intergenerational projects. Projects follow the interests of someone at Community UCC who hears of an opportunity for us to help and wants to mobilize the congregation to pitch in.
Upcoming projects are announced in CUCC News & Events. Volunteer! Bring a friend!
If you are inspired to work on a community project not listed here, bring your energy and talents to COM and we’ll help you figure out how to get others at Community UCC involved.
Cook for women at Helen Wright Center – Cook part of a meal at your home, or deliver and serve the meal to about 70 women who are currently homeless. We are joining Holy Trinity Lutheran Church to prepare meals for third Sundays in April, September and December.
CROP Walk – Walk, donate or coordinate Community UCC’s team for the Triangle CROP Walk which raises funds to provide food to those who need it in our community.
Meals on Wheels – Fill in for one of our Meals on Wheels food delivery drivers when we have a vacation vacancy.
Out! Raleigh – Offer a welcoming smile to people who stop to chat at Community UCC’s Out! Raleigh table. This year’s effort will organize in the spring, but until then you can talk to Dawn Koonce.
Walk for Hope – Walk, donate, or coordinate Community UCC’s team for Walk for Hope which raises funds for mental health research.
Warm Hands, Warm Feet, Warm Hearts – Our annual collection of socks and gloves for the men and women of Healing Transitions is our favorite way to celebrate Valentine’s Day.
