NewsEmptying a pot of food scraps into our compost bin in the courtyard

As you probably know, Community UCC has a composting arrangement with Compost Now. There is a rolling compost bin just outside the Vaughan Fellowship Hall door nearest the kitchen. We put compostables into this rolling bin from CUCC events and from fellowship after worship.

You, too, can bring your compostables from home and put them into the outside rolling bin. Indeed many CUCC members and friends already do.

Composting greatly reduces what goes to the landfill, and decreases landfill generated methane (a very strong greenhouse gas).  We encourage everybody who can to compost.

Here’s a list of what you can bring (including veggies, meat, bones and pizza boxes)

This is a great way to keep greenhouse gases from the environment.  Indeed, we sequester about as much carbon with our one compost bin as we do with our solar panels!!! WOW!! Pitch in! 😊

As an FYI, there are other sites around town that will take your compostables, too. A new one is at The North Hills Farmers Market at North Hills Shopping Center.
