NewsContemplative Prayer & Writing at Monday Lunch Group, February 5 at 12:15 PM

On Monday, February 5, Pastor Lacey will lead the Monday Lunch Group in contemplative prayer and writing exercises on Lent.  Anyone is welcome to attend.

Monday Lunch Group begins to gather in the Vaughan Fellowship Hall at 12:15 PM; the program begins at 12:30 PM.

The season of Lent is approximately 40 days of fasting, repentance, and reflection observed by many Christians. It begins on Ash Wednesday, February 14, and ends on Holy Saturday, just before Easter Sunday, March 31. Lent is a time for Christians to prepare for the resurrection of Jesus.

The 40 days of Lent are symbolic and represent the 40 days that Jesus spent fasting in the desert. During Lent, people often engage in practices such as fasting, prayer, repentance, and acts of charity. Many people also choose to give up certain luxuries or indulge in more self-discipline as a way of reflecting on Jesus’ sacrifice and drawing closer to God. We will discuss various ideas about how to make our Lent more enriching and meaningful.
