On Thursday, October 23, CUCC sent its annual delegation of volunteers to work at the Peace Booth at the NC State Fair. Mike Soboeiro and Robert Parrish, Ken and Merrilee Jacobson, and Gary Smith and Phil Kaveler took two-hour shifts to discuss peace and justice issues with interested fairgoers. The two issues that were highlighted this year were the care of veterans and the proliferation of nuclear weapons. For both issues, a petition was available for visitors to sign that will be sent to government leaders.

The Peace Booth has been active at the State Fair every year since 1951. Please consider supporting or volunteering at the booth in the future as it is a good way to see the fair and understand what our community is thinking about.

For any questions about the Peace Booth, reach out to Robert Parrish who is on the steering committee.  Robert’s contact information is in Breeze or from office.cucc@gmail.com.
