We all make the annual auction together! CUCCers have recently been making the auction a bigger success each year, even in these trying times. Let’s keep the trend going! Here’s what to do…
How to Make an Auction

Host an Event: invite a group to walk, eat, play or learn together at your home, in a church space which you reserve, or out in the world. We usually have about 2 such hosted events offered each month for the next calendar year. Best way to get to know each other!
Take Home Today: eye catching items in the room ready to go home with the winning bidder include cakes and other goodies, artwork or handcrafted items, useful gadgets and household items in new or mostly new condition, jewelry and accessories.
Future Items or Services: If you’d rather bake a cake or cookies later, then let the bidder know what you’ll make for their future enjoyment. Other popular services include custom sign making, tutoring, yard work, babysitting, room painting, rides to the airport, use of a truck, tech support, genealogy research, organizing, making music for a party. Another great way to connect with church friends!
Big Ticket Items: Our auction always has a few wowzers. If you can donate a vacation home weekend, impactful original artwork, sports or concert ticket package, or have another idea for a live auction item, click the link above right away! Susan A will call to discuss details. Thanks for considering!!
2. Put volunteers in place
More specifics soon. If you’re curious about where you might volunteer before Oct 5, contact Susan A at booatkinson@mac.com.
For questions about helping with food and drink the night of Oct 5, contact friend Whitney at friends.cucc@gmail.com
To assist with checking folks in and out on Oct 5, contact Jeff at office.cucc@gmail.com.
3. Tell folks how it works and what’s new
On Oct 5, you’ll arrive at 6pm to get your bidder number for $5. This puts you in the system to bid using that number all night.
Silent auction items will be arranged around the room for you to bid on until 6:45.
Live auction starts then, with Jeff Langenderfer as our auctioneer. Look for Blip Scuppernong and Chuck Porterhouse to stir up some fun trouble too.
Also!
A sampling of silent auction items will be available for early bidding this year!
Come to the Fellowship Hall after worship Sun Sept 22 and 29. Check out what’s already been donated and make your bid using your name.
These bid sheets will then go to the silent auction tables on Oct 5. All winning bidders will get an email at the end of the evening totaling their final bill and itemizing what they won. Payment can be made at that time by check or credit card.
4. Come to the auction in the Fellowship Hall Oct 5 from 6-9pm
Mark your calendar! Plan to be part of the fun! If you need a proxy to be there for you, call Jeff in the office.
Childcare will be on site and ready to go. It still helps if we know you’re planning to attend with kids.
We’ll have hors d’oeuvres and drinks and time to mingle, so do get there early.
Thanks for joining the effort and the fun of being the church!
