CUCC Youth shared their powerful art on August 25 at an art show and sale in the fellowship hall after worship. They want to share their appreciation for those who attended and for those who contributed. They also want to share images of the art and of the event for those who couldn’t be there.
Thank you!: Due to your generosity, youth raised over $450 at this sale! The donations will go to the youth fund, for BYC (summer youth camp), and to Democracy NC (a non-partisan organization that promotes democracy). Anyone can still make a donation by putting Youth Art in the memo line of a check or by contributing online with the key words “Youth Art”.
How did it happen?: The youth engaged in art curriculum throughout their summer Sunday School sessions. Each week, adult leaders provided a scripture reading, and an art project that might exemplify the reading. The lessons provided a hands-on way to discover feelings, truths, and ideas about such concepts as finding light in the darkness, the importance of friendships, the strength of community, and the energy of prayer.
Check it out!: If you missed the show, please enjoy these photos of youth art. They expressed themselves beautifully through charcoal, printmaking, fabric art, dreamcatcher weaving, prayer bead making, and collage.
