Life & Faith gathers this Monday, May 4, at High Park Bar and Grill.  The weather is looking gorgeous for Monday evening as I (Jane) write, so look for our table centerpiece (red Life & Faith comma) at a table on the patio.  (If the weather gets icky, we will be inside).  If you want to order food or a drink, arrive by 6:30PM.  Our discussion runs from 7- 8PM.

What is Life & Faith?

Sometimes a change of location and a libation improve the conversation.

Life & Faith began in a local brewery.  Questions for discussion arise from the group as each of us tries to figure out how to put into practice what we believe.  We talk about family, work, community.  We don’t always agree; we do laugh together. If no one has a question that night, Jane Smith brings a back up question to start the discussion.

What is said at Life & Faith stays at Life & Faith!  We seek to be a safe place for one another.

Back up question for May

Anyone is welcome to bring a question arising from ways their life collides with their faith.  Here is the back up question for May.

When is it easy for you to show up for others and when are you reticent?

Life gives us so many opportunities to show up for one another, and each of us probably has types of showing up that are second nature and types that are super hard.  Do you automatically show up with a casserole for a neighbor with a new baby?  Are you the one who shows up with a bunch of flowers for a widow on the anniversary of her spouse’s death?    Do you “Just Show Up” at advocacy education events but never at rallies?  Do you send a card every birthday, or faithfully check the email for the White Flag Shelter, or see if the fellowship crew needs extra hands with the coffee, or faithfully make it to every Property Work Day even though you can’t repair anything more complicated than a battery change?  Why do you show up where you do?  From whom did you learn to show up?  Has how you show up changed over time?  Are there types of showing up which you have worked hard to learn and, if so, how did you learn them?

Contact Jane Smith if you have questions about Life & Faith or would like to be added to the monthly email reminder with the back up topic (contact info in Breeze or via office.cucc@gmail.com).
