NewsElections and Life and Faith on Monday, April 1

Jane’s proposed back up topic for our April gathering:

A friend recently said to a group celebrating at a wedding reception together, “What island should we move to if this election goes wrong?”  No matter what one’s political viewpoint or which level of government one is considering, the stakes in the upcoming election can feel dire.  What Jesus story is keeping you grounded?  Do you have people and practices to care for your tender spirit?  How are you preparing to be salt and light? How, in conversation, have you pushed back against a narrative of fear with a story of love?  Do you have a conversational emergency soundbite or a quick centering practice you’d like to share ?  What, if anything, do you need from your church or your Life & Faith companions?  Let’s talk elections* & life & faith.

*Community UCC is a nonpartisan organization; we never endorse candidates or political parties.  The opinions of our members are their own – and wow do we have a spectrum of opinions!  At our Life & Faith discussions, everyone is free to express themselves, and none of us will be representing the congregation.  Whatever is said at Life & Faith stays at Life & Faith.

What is Life & Faith?

Join us for conversation about the intersection of the day-to-day with our faith.  Anyone can bring a question for the group to mull over, but if no one does, Jane Smith provides a back up question.  Life & Faith is open to anyone who wants to come; drop in when you can, bring a friend.  We usually meet on first Mondays.  We have two rules at Life & Faith – Rule #1:  Whatever is said at Life & Faith, stays among those who attended that evening.

Where we meet

We meet at Transfer Co. Food Hall; parking is plentiful and well-lit.  April 1 will be overcast and in the 60s, so we will meet on the ground floor in a sunken area in the center of the food hall.  There is an accessibility ramp that goes into the sunken area.  Look for the red Life & Faith comma to find our table.

About food and beverage

Arrive by 6:30PM if you want to buy food or beverage before our 7PM start.  We are done promptly at 8PM.  There is a free water dispenser under the stairs.  If you do buy food or beverage, please tip generously; we hope to transform the impression that Christians are stingy tippers (Rule #2)!

If you are planning to come and are a little nervous about finding our group, email Jane Smith before that Sunday for her cell number and you can call her when you get there.
