The CROP Hunger Walk helps to end hunger in our community and around the world. It’s easy to get involved! You can participate by walking on Sunday, October 25 and/or donating to the CUCC team through this link.
The one- and three-mile walks will once again begin and end at First Baptist Church’s Hillsborough Street parking lot near the State Capitol Building. Registration begins at 2 p.m. with the walks beginning at 3 p.m. This year, we’ll have a DJ, a drum circle, treats at the end of the walk and a free shopping bag (with our sponsors’ names) for the walkers.
You’re invited to wear a “vintage” CROP Hunger Walk T-shirt this year instead of paying for a new one.
Walkers are also encouraged to bring canned goods for Urban Ministries’ food pantry.
What is the CROP Hunger Walk?
“CROP Hunger Walks are community-based walk fundraising events held in cities and towns across the United States, created to support the global mission of Church World Service, a faith-based organization transforming communities around the globe through just and sustainable responses to hunger, poverty, displacement and disaster. After a CROP Hunger Walk ends, 25% of the funds raised is returned to the host community to support local hunger fighting efforts.”
We will also be continuing our newer tradition of holding a yard sale to raise additional money for CROP. The yard sale will be held on October 31 at CUCC from 8am – noon.
If you have any questions about the walk, please contact co-chairs Mike Schafale or Merrilee Jacobson.
