A Peals for Peace
An event every week that begins at 6:00 pm on Monday, repeating until November 2, 2026
With election season in full swing, we will gather at the corner of Wade Avenue and Dixie Trail every Monday to ring bells for peace.
Do Justice has registered to join the NC Council of Churches and faith communities across NC to ring bells for peace at 6 PM every Monday, September 7 to November 2. We ring, wave, and hold signs from 6:00-6:15PM (yes, only 15 minutes).
This is a family-friendly event. Families may choose to stand on the grass above the sidewalk if they prefer to keep their children farther from traffic. Some of our bells are loud so bring ear defenders or plugs if big sounds bother you.
Do Justice, you and I will meet at Wade and Dixie Trail in front of our church and ring any bells you bring for 15 minutes while we smile, bring and show “A Peals for Peace” signs, and wave to passing traffic. Bells, tambourines, triangles, cymbals – any happily jingling or clanging instrument is welcome. If you don’t have a bell, bring an “A Peals for Peace” sign to hold.
The message is a simple, non-confrontational, faith-rooted act of shared witness:
- Every person is created with inherent worth
- We are called to love our neighbor
- Peace is not passive, it is something we actively seek and embody
- Unity is stronger than division
If someone asks why the bells are ringing, the answer is simple: For Peace.
We will ring bells on Wade Avenue:
- Every Monday, weekly, from September through November 2 at 6 PM.
