Forest Bathing
April 29 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am
April 29, 9-11AM, in Umstead Park (Pott’s Branch Trail).
Experience shinrin-yoku, or “forest bathing,” as it is known in Japan – is the practice of intentionally and mindfully spending time in the forest, using all of our senses to experience nature up close. It creates a bridge between us and the natural world. When we are in harmony with it, we begin to heal. In fact, numerous scientific studies demonstrate that forest bathing can significantly reduce stress and improve cardiovascular and metabolic health, among many other health benefits. Most importantly, it gives us a profound sense of the beauty and mystery of the universe.
Pott’s Branch is an easy 1.3 mile trail. Participants should enter the park at the Crabtree Creek Entrance off Glenwood Ave/Hwy 70 and continue along the main road until the very last parking area and meet at the picnic tables on the left.
Mary Pat Peters, UCC friend and spiritual landscape designer, will guide us.
