Life & Faith
Life & Faith is trying a new location on October 5. Join us at the Panera off of Lake Boone Trail (2410 Landmark Drive). We’ll gather at 6:45PM (so those attending A Peals for Peace can join us). Buy whatever you want to eat or drink, then look for our table with the “Life & Faith” red comma centerpiece.
As always, if you have a question for us to discuss – some place where your faith is colliding with your day to day life – bring it! If no one has a topic to suggest, Jane Smith brings a topic to start our conversation.
October backup question
Two months ago we talked about techniques for developing the habits of compassion that are necessary for building community. What else does a community need to thrive? How about humor!
Do you use humor as a tool for healthy relationship building? Which types of humor are comfortable for you, which are not, and why? When has a shared fit of the giggles broken a tense moment? Do we cultivate and make a place for humor enough at CUCC, at work, and in our service and advocacy? Who are the people who bring the gift of humor to our community?
We could spend the hour intellectualizing about humor, but let’s not. Bring funny stories from your life. Let’s share jokes, laugh-filled movie and book recommendations, even favorite Bible passages that would have worked for a standup comedian. Bring a cartoon that cracked you up. If we start getting too “thinky,” Jane is going to subject you to bad jokes and you definitely don’t want that!
*Why 6:45? So that folks who are being a public witness ringing bells for A Peals for Peace have time to get to the restaurant. If you are the first person to arrive at Panera, grab a table for 8. We’ll arrive soon.
What is Life & Faith?
Ever wonder how others navigate the day-to-day of following Jesus? Where does your life intersect with your faith?
Life & Faith is a monthly opportunity to have those conversations over a glass of your favorite refreshment or dinner. We bring our questions and our stories, getting ideas from each other. Jane Smith, the time keeper and email reminder-sender, brings a back up question in case no one brings their own question.
After we each have our food, conversation runs 7-8PM.
Friends are welcome!
We have two guidelines – What is said at Life & Faith stays there AND we tip generously (because Christians are notoriously stingy).
If you would like to receive the email reminder with the back up question and confirmation of our location, contact Jane Smith via Breeze or office.cucc@gmail.com.
