Safe Church Training

The Masai in Africa have a traditional greeting to each other: “And how are the children?” They don’t ask each other, “How are you?”; they want to discover more broadly how well the community is, so they ask about the next generation.

At Community UCC, we know that our well-being is connected to, and contingent upon, the well-being of our children. We are committed to doing the work that helps to ensure a safe and healthy church environment in which young people can learn about and experience God’s love.

In order to carry this out, we have established a policy that mandates that we provide a Safe Church Training at least every three years. This year’s training will be in-person. We are excited to welcome a knowledgeable, engaging teacher to lead a two hour training on Sunday, Oct. 29 after worship from 12pm-2pm in the Fellowship Hall. The money we receive from the sale of our new CUCC t-shirts will cover the cost of our Safe Church initiatives.

All are welcome to register and take the training but the following people must take this training in order to adhere to our policy:

Volunteers in the kids and youth programs
Church Staff of the church
The Moderator
The chair of Deacons Ministry
