Visit the North Carolina Freedom Park
October 29 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm
The Racial Justice Project of the Do Justice Ministry is sponsoring a visit to the recently opened North Carolina Freedom Park in downtown Raleigh after church this Sunday, October 29. The park honors the struggle of African Americans for freedom. It consists of sculptures, pathways and low walls with inspirational quotations. The quotations are intended to inspire people to research the history behind them.
You can learn more about the park here:
Welcome to Freedom Park | NC AAHC
Those interested in participating in the visit can leave from the church about noon after a brief time of treats and costume fellowship (hosted by the children) and gather at the site at 12:15. The park is located at 218 N. Wilmington St., across from the legislature and behind State Archives. Street parking should be available.
(The safe church training is scheduled at the same time. If you have not yet taken it, consider doing that instead).
