NewsA can of soup wears and elf hat, a can of vegetables wears reindeer antlers, a box of cereal wears a Santa hat, a stack of tuna is garlanded with a star on top like a Christmas tree, and two snack bars stick out of a Christmas stocking. The message: Take the family grocery shopping. No matter how old we are, we can do something about food insecurity. Collection date: December 7

The holidays are always busy times at the Urban Ministries Food Pantry.  In November, CUCC donated 140 pounds of food.  Let’s see if we can beat that total!

A grocery list in the shape of a bag of food has printed on the side a list of items which you can find at the link in the body of this article. What should I bring?

The food pantry counts on us to supply the basics on this printable list.  They supplement our dry goods with fresh produce, meats, and eggs as available.

I don’t enjoy shopping.  May I make a financial donation instead?

Absolutely.  Your financial gift allows Urban Ministries to supplement donated food.  Give here.

Or, write a check to CUCC with “food bag” on the memo line.  Envelopes are attached to the food collection box;  place the envelope with your check in the offering plate.

Where do I put my food?

Look for the large collection box in the narthex every first Sunday.  Please double bag your donation so the food gets to the car without dents.

How can I find out more about this First Sunday project?

Our food bag delivery team is:  Greg Eades, Ken & Merrilee Jacobson, and Phil Kaveler. Talk with any of them about this ministry and why they decided to be involved.  For more information about food items to bring, contact Merrilee or Ken Jacobson (info in Breeze or via office.cucc@gmail.com).
