Pastor Lacey visits the Pride booth

We’re planning a double-sized booth this year, and CUCC needs two people for each shift.  For set up (roughly 9-11AM) and clean up (roughly 6-6:30PM) shifts we need folks with strong backs to carry boxes of supplies, chairs, and tents.  Those hosting will work roughly two hour shifts (with planned overlap).  You’ll chat with people who come to our table, welcome them to any of the three churches, listen to their stories, answer their questions, and celebrate the joy of the day.  Each church has its own treat to give away – ours will be ribbons (we have a version celebrating transgender pride and one LGBTQ pride).

Out!Raleigh Pride has a festive family-friendly vibe.  You’ll see grandparents joyfully escorting their out-and-proud grandchildren, couples courting, parents with strollers and dogs, and friends laughing together.  Fayetteville Street is lined with vendors (everything from insurance companies to sellers of rainbow tutus to churches). There are food trucks, and live music pulses over the crowd.  Yes, a very few people come to “preach” on the corners, but that’s why we’re there… to be Christ’s love with a warm smile celebrating that God created us in so many wonderful ways of living and loving.  It’s lively, colorful, fun and may become one of your favorite days of the year.
