NewsJCC presentation experience

As you know, the Justice in a Changing Climate team (JCC) helps CUCC respond and act on climate change. You can read some of our history here.

During Fellowship hour this January, we asked you what events you would like to see the JCC arrange this year. About 50 of you gave us your thoughts! And the results are in the picture below.

The three most popular events were:

  1. Signs of Hope Party: An intergenerational party of games, silliness, and snacks with a climate hope theme.
  2. Visit to a CSA farm: See where the food is grown and learn from one of the farmers in our Black Farmers to Churches CSA.
  3. Vegan food tasting: Plant-based foods can be delicious. Taste some good recipes to add to your cooking rotation to reduce your carbon footprint.

In response, so far, we have arranged:

  1. A visit to our CSA farmer Ken Daniel’s farm on May 4, 1-4PM.
Carpool from Dixie Trail parking lot at 12:30.
    All ages welcome.
    RSVP: Gary Smith (smithgk@mindspring.com)

  2. EV/Hybrid Show and Tell (which also had strong interest)
To be scheduled for a September Saturday, 5PM
We will have a sampling of cars owned by CUCC people to sit in and talk with the owners about.
We will also invite the church neighbors.

  3. Combined Signs of Hope Party and Vegan tasting
To be scheduled for January 2025
It is at the early stages of planning.
    It will be intergenerational.
We hope to have a “Success Stories Program”, Plant-based Food Small Bites Tasting, and Silliness.

These are our plans for the 12 months following the survey. We hope you will participate, and we hope to provide other events in 2025. If you wish to help, let us know. If you have ideas, let us know those too.

As always, you are welcome to join the JCC team. We’d love to have you.
