Tommy Gress joined CUCC as church organist on July 1, 2024. Tommy’s skills and talents in music ministry will create an environment of reflection, reverence, and celebration. As the organist/pianist Tommy will work closely with choir director, Anne Moorman-Smith, to foster a ministry of inclusion and genuine community in the music program.

About Tommy

A lifelong musician, Tommy has learned to play several instruments, including the trumpet and viola. His true passion, however, lies with the piano and organ, which he has played for 16 and 4 years respectively. Music has always had an enormous impact on his life, and he is both excited and grateful for the opportunity to share it with the congregation.

Tommy graduated from Duke University with a bachelor’s degree in Classical Civilizations, and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Library Science. Formerly a resident of Ohio, he now lives in Durham with his partner Carter and their cat Milo.
