NewsCall for nominations for the 2024 Carolyn and Cy King Peace and Justice Award. Nominations are due May 26

In keeping with a proud tradition of CUCC, the process has begun for the Carolyn and Cy King Peace and Justice Award nominations.

Past recipients have included Bishop William Barber, Reverends Collins Kilburn and Mac Legerton, as well as David Andrews, Jane Smith, Gail Phares, Peg and Mac Hulslander, Jim Smith, Adrienne and John Little, Joan McAllister and Sue Cottle.

We are soliciting nominations of individuals who embody the spirits of service and grace and work toward justice and peace in our community and world.  We seek nominees who have done outstanding work for several years or more in such areas including BUT NOT LIMITED TO

Civil rights
Racial justice
Creation/environmental justice
Cash bail reform, criminal law, prisons, and jails
Community and world peace and reconciliation
Disability rights
Economic justice, including affordable housing
Gender equity and justice
LGBTQ and transgender rights
Educational reform
Access to reproductive health care
Domestic violence prevention
Children’s rights; child welfare
Immigrant rights
