We’re Better Together

Summer 2021 Older Youth Retreat: July 9-11

After this year of pandemic isolation we want to let go of some loneliness, lean into community, dream up courageous, connected, and healthy community experiences, and return home with renewed faith in our relationships to God and to each other, and with more hope and inspiration for our communities to come.

So please pray for us this Friday-Sunday, July 9-11 as CUCC older youth and recent graduates (Mason, Kayla, Gabby, Evan, Jake, Ella, and Zenna) and adult facilitators (Bill and Santi) will enjoy retreat in community at Cedar Cross Retreat Center in Louisburg, NC. (Thanks to Susan Atkinson and Megan Fackler Bretz for amazing meals and transportation support.)

Much like the early Christians who were grieving and afraid, we too are emerging from loss, fear, and isolation. And much like those described in the book of Acts, we too are hungry for real connection, and need to remember and celebrate the joy and restorative strength found in God’s beloved community.

“All who believed were together and had all things in common. Day by day, as they spent much time together in the temple, they broke bread at home and ate their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having the goodwill of all the people.” Acts 2:44-47a
