So how did YOU add color and dazzle to YOUR lives last Saturday morning? A group of nine of us spent Saturday morning March 12 gathering in the Bridge Room to learn about our prayer stick tradition. Three shared their experiences of receiving their own prayer sticks upon joining the church. Jen Fawcett shared that her prayer stick traveled to the hospital with them when Everett was born!
Then with imagination, color, texture, and vibrancy we each made our own prayer sticks while focusing energy on someone we wished to remember with the weaving. Creation of the prayer sticks now has a “home” in the Arts in Worship ministry. Many thanks to the participants who have now become a team of folks Arts in Worship will call on to create sticks for new members to come. Many thanks to Joan McAllister who is reported to have made as many as 200 prayer sticks through the years.
