All ages welcome. Bring a friend.
Fill your belly to the brim before Lent begins! Join us and welcome our friends from St. Paul’s Christian Church for a fun evening of pancakes and conversation in the CUCC fellowship hall. We continue the modern tradition of sharing Lenten events with our neighboring church while indulging in the ancient tradition of a decadent pancake dinner.
This is your opportunity to indulge the night before the start of Lent (Ash Wednesday). The tradition dates back to 600AD when meat and animal products were banned during Lent. Christians made pancakes to use up all their “unhealthy” items (butter, eggs, milk, sugar) in the kitchen pantry in advance of the more penitential observance of Lent. In addition to fluffy pancakes, we will have other special treats to make it a real celebration… bacon, peanut butter, whip cream, sliced fruit, butter, and of course syrup!
This is your excuse to have whatever your heart delights.
In the spirit of Mardi Gras, wear purple, green, and gold headwear or beads! Let’s delight in excesses together!
All ages welcome. Bring a friend and let us know you’re attending. Please RSVP using this link.
