We are delighted that Rev. Sharon Hope will be preaching on July 24 at 10:30 worship. Join us on campus or online.
Sharon was born and raised in McAllen, Texas, and earned degrees in music at UT Austin and The Royal College of Music in London, and later, an M.Div from Union Theological Seminary in New York City. While a student at Union, Sharon started a ministry to prisoners and their families at Sing Sing Prison. Sharon was called to that ministry by the Presbyterian Church where she served for nine years and was then chaplain of high security men at the Rhode Island Correctional Facility. For the last twenty years Sharon has served as a settled pastor and then as interim pastor for six congregations in Rhode Island. Sharon is also a Level II trainer in Kingian Nonviolence – the philosophy and strategies of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. – and has trained in schools, churches, youth summer camps, police departments and four times in Palestine. She recently moved to Raleigh with her dog, Joe, and is so happy to have found CUCC!
