The Ordination of Rev. Anthony William Hoshaw (Ph.D.) to Christian Ministry took place on Sunday, September 24, 2023 at First Christian United Church of Christ in Burlington, N.C. It was a majestic and spiritually uplifting service as ministers, choirs and congregation took part in this service of ordination.

The choirs of First Christian UCC, First Reformed UCC, and Good Shepherd UCC, under the direction of Matt Rice, Minister of Music at First Christian UCC and Rev. Linda Velto, Associate Pastor of Good Shepherd UCC, provided inspiring music for this joyous and memorable event. They were assisted with the music by Ms. Ava Hammock and Ms. Amy Marsh, Cellists.

Rev. Carla Gregg-Kearns provided the thought-provoking, encouraging sermon for the service based upon Exodus 17:1-7, “Is the Lord Among Us or Not?”

The challenging Exhortation was provided by our Eastern NC Association President, Rev. Dian Jackson Davis, with the Examination Questions asked to Rev. Hoshaw by Rev. Jimmy Gibbs. The Ordination Prayer and Laying on of Hands by family members and ministers was provided by Rev. Eddie Weathers, Associate Conference Minister for the Eastern NC Association, while Rev. Belinda Sledge brought greetings and recognition from the Southern Conference of the UCC. Other participants in the worship service were: Ms. Cindy Sharpe, Ms. Dotti Davis, Rev. Jamie Fonville and Rev. Micah Hardy-Royal.

Following the inspiring, joyous and challenging Service of Ordination, an exquisite dinner was provided in Bray Fellowship Hall by Anthony’s family for all to enjoy and share in fellowship.
