CUCC’s Community Outreach Ministry is supporting a Rise Against Hunger (formerly known as Stop Hunger Now) event hosted by Holy Trinity ELC, scheduled for September 6, 2025. Between the two churches, we need to raise at least $4,100, which is the minimum amount necessary to have an event and fund 10,000 meals for hungry children and families worldwide. If we raise more than that, we provide more meals!
How can I support this event?
Donate: To support this event, you may either write a check to CUCC with a notation in the memo line for “RAH” or go to the Rise Against Hunger website to donate online. Coming soon: Donate via Breeze or text to give.
We have met our required $4100! Thank you.
Package meals on September 6: We also need volunteers to help with the meal packaging on September 6 — a sign-up sheet will be available later. Packing the meals is great fun and families are welcome — kids as young as 4 years old can help. The location will be at Holy Trinity’s fellowship hall. Register to volunteer here (scroll down the page for the registration form and to read the waiver).
As of August 31 the 2 churches had 558volunteers signed up toward our goal of 50 people over the age of 4.
How does Rise Against Hunger provide food for hungry people?

Rise Against Hunger and Hurricane Helene
For over 25 years, Rise Against Hunger has been based in North Carolina and has built relationships with local nonprofits and faith communities through food bagging events. They were here for us when Hurricane Helene struck our state. From their Instagram post: “Alongside @heart.to.heart.international, other local organizations and gifts-in-kind partners, your support has helped mobilize and allocate over $2.3 million of over-the-counter medications and supplies, providing over 18,000 hygiene kits to families affected in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia.”
When we partner with Rise Against Hunger to package food, we do more than feed hungry people in the short-term; we build relationships that are there for the future.
