As the culmination of the “Offering of Letters” campaign, the Bread for the World team visited the Raleigh offices of Senator Thom Tillis, Senator Ted Budd and Representative Deborah Ross. Fortified by nearly 200 letters advocating for the food-insecure and by artwork created by CUCC’s K-12 Sunday School classes, the team spoke to congressional staffers about the need to fully fund the WIC and SNAP programs. The message was reinforced with a loaf of bread for each office, made by Gary Smith. The Senators’ staffers were cordial, with one inviting the team to tour the office suite. Rep. Ross’ staff sat down with the team to discuss ways that CUCC could increase its impact by partnering with local nonprofits.
Our advocacy doesn’t end here. Please consider signing up for Bread for the World’s emails that provide an easy way to send messages to our U.S. Senators and Representative. For more information, click here.
