NewsJune 8 work day

A big “thank you” to the 17 volunteers who turned up for the June property work day. The cooler weather and Krispy Kreme doughnuts inspired the group to enthusiastically tackle a long list of projects. That list includes:

  • Staining the front porch and back deck of the Pilgrim House
  • Filling seven large trash cans while pruning plants and removing dead bushes
  • Installing a trailer load of Chapel Hill grit in the pathway between the parking lots
  • Pulling weeds, pruning trees, picking up pine cones and removing plant “volunteers” from around the property
  • Mulching plant beds with pine straw “harvested” from other parts of the property
  • Repairing and relocating the old Peace Pole to the fire pit area. (A new PVC Peace Pole is being purchased.)
  • Installing a new basketball net and uninstalling cob webs from exterior windows

With an hour of volunteer time valued at nearly $30, it would have cost CUCC at least $1,400 to pay for the work accomplished. Of course, our volunteers are priceless!

If you’d like to help out at a work day, please join us on September 7 and/or November 9. In the meantime, you can contact Property Ministry chairperson Merrilee Jacobson at 919-274-4539 to take on a project from the “to do” list.
