For the next three Sundays, Pastor Lacey will preach our focus texts for VBS: 1 Corinthians 12 and 13. If you have time please read the two chapters in full and jot down some initial thoughts and questions. Doing this will help you hear the sermons more in-depth and might enhance your experience at VBS.
While reading, take care to notice the progression in the scriptures… In 1 Corinthians 12:1-11, Pauls identifies the problem the church in Corinth is experiencing. He then describes in 12:12-31, how the congregation is supposed to relate and respect one another as the body of Christ, and finally, in chapter 13, Paul presents a solution. Hint hint, the solution is LOVE!
We are faced with many challenges during this Coronavirus pandemic. Paul’s letter to the Corinthians is an exploration of what it means to be church in difficult times. What does it mean for us to use our gifts to build up the community? Is there dissension within the body of Christ, if so, how can we better care for one another as valued members? Is love the foundation of our community and how will we know if we are loving each other well?
We hope you will join us for Vacation Bible School and worship on Sundays. We look forward to seeing you both in-person and online.
