NewsA family supports climate action now

The weekend of October 17 and 18, people of faith from around the world gathered in houses of worship and on the streets to pray for action on climate by world leaders – NOW.  The United Nation’s climate summit, COP26, runs October 31 – November 12, and world leaders will be negotiating new carbon reduction commitments.

In Raleigh, Interfaith Creation Care of the Triangle, of which Community UCC is a member, organized a prayer chain featuring creative homemade signs followed by a prayer vigil along Wade Avenue.  About 200 people came, stretching the sidewalks from the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Raleigh to Community UCC.

If you couldn’t make the prayer chain, you can still help.  Share this article on your social media, adding #Faiths4ClimateJustice, and your own message for President Biden and other world leaders.

Video credits to Pastor Lacey who enjoyed riding by the prayer chain, camera rolling.
