On Sunday, July 20, we presented the Carolyn and Cy King Peace and Justice Award to four 2025 recipients: Kathy Huffstetler, Dr. Brian Klausner, Roger Manus, and Justice Allison Riggs.
The King Award honors the peace and justice work of people in the community while providing inspiration to all of us as we seek to do justice in the unique ways God calls each of us. Watch this video (below) to be inspired and encouraged by the life witness and by the comments of Ms. Huffstetler, Dr. Klausner, Mr. Manus, and Justice Riggs. You can find their bios here.
A King Award extra
Justice Coffee recipients were inspired by a book written by one of the recipients, Dr. Klausner. They wanted to amplify Dr. Klausner’s voice by encouraging people at CUCC and in the community to read his book, In the Gaps: Better Understanding the Expensive Human Suffering of Chronic Homelessness Learn more about this CUCC Reads and the September 23 discussion on Zoom here. The wider community is invited; let us know if you would like the Zoom link to attend.
The King Award is selected by a committee of Community UCC’s Do Justice Ministry and is presented annually during worship. If you have questions, contact Phil Kaveler, chair of Do Justice Ministry (via Breeze or office.cucc@gmail.com)
