In the 1990s, CUCC welcomed two visiting pastors from the Evangelical Church of the Rhineland (Germany) to serve with us. On June 1, the Southern Conference of the UCC will be hosting The Rev. Frauke Laaser from the ECR, and is preparing a special Saturday event for her. You are welcome to continue CUCC’s relationship with the ECR by attending.
The United Church of Christ has partnered with the ECR for many years, exchanging pastors and interns. CUCC welcomed two visiting pastors – Rev. Ursula Schmidt-Pridik (visiting minister) (1993-1994) and Anke Krauss (visiting intern) (1996-1997). Many of our members developed close friendships with them, and we have been delighted to see Ursula from time to time during her vacations in the U.S.

Rev. Laaser will share the mission and direction of the ECR.
A panel of the SOC will share their experiences in the five streams of the UCC: the Evangelical and Reformed tradition, the Congregational Christian tradition, and the Afro-Christian tradition. Rev. Laaser wanted this information to take back to the congregations of the ECR.
About Rev. Laaser’s visit
The Rev. Frauke Laaser, Officer for Ecumenical Affairs, of the Evangelical Church in the Rhineland will be our special guest here in the Southern Conference from May 31 to June 2, 2024. She will be visiting the Wisconsin and Pennsylvania Conferences prior to her visit here in our Conference. She is excited about her upcoming visit and says that “the Southern Conference is a rich Conference, in a rich denomination, that is rich in confessing and engaged with talented members who have a great awareness of global and local themes that spreads out the biblical message to the people inside and outside of the church.” She is looking forward to meeting the clergy and members of the Southern Conference and equally, we are excited and are looking forward to her time with us. She understands who we are, being the most diverse conference in the whole United Church of Christ so we will give her a taste of who we are during this chosen time. [Description from Rev. Dr. Edward S. Davis in the SOC enewsletter]
