NewsVolunteer for two hours a week delivering meals

Community UCC has had a long-standing association with Meals on Wheels of Wake County (MOW). For many years, Carol Kepler has been our coordinator, with four pairs of volunteers delivering meals to home-bound seniors on the second Wednesday of each month. Not surprisingly, the pandemic has thrown a monkey wrench into the MOW routine: things are being done a bit differently, and there is a need for more volunteers. One change is that Carol has had to step away from the coordinating duties. At present, Nancy and Skip Stoddard are delivering meals every Friday, and Sue Cottle is delivering as well.

This is an easy and rewarding job that takes less than two hours. It’s perfect for retirees or others who can find free time in the middle of the day. At present, there is a special need for more Friday helpers, and beginning in August they will need help on Mondays. If becoming an MOW volunteer appeals to you, please contact Nancy (nancystoddard@gmail.com) or Skip (skip.stoddard@gmail.com).
