Life & Faith is a fluid group of whoever shows up that month, and friends are welcome – just drop in! We meet on 1st Mondays, at Transfer Co. Food Hall; the Hall has a well-lit parking lot and several accessible parking spaces. During the chilly winter months, we gather on the main floor in the sunken area near the middle; there is a ramp for easy access. Discussion starts at 7PM, so arrive by 6:30 if you want to order food (each person covers their own purchases). We try to model God’s generosity by tipping well, whether we order water or a full meal. The discussion wraps up at 8PM. What is said at Life & Faith stays at Life & Faith! We seek to be a safe place for one another.
What happens at Life & Faith?
Questions for discussion arise from the group as each of us tries to figure out how to put into practice what we believe. We talk about family, work, community. We don’t always agree; we do laugh together. If no one has a question that night, Jane Smith brings a back up question to start the discussion.
Backup question for January
Names have power, and the names for God to which each of us gravitates may subtly influence the choices we make day to day as we seek to live our faith. The Bible and our tradition are full of names that others have chosen for God. Which names for God ring true in your experience? Are any names for God contrary to your experience? Is there a story behind how any of the names became important to you? Is there a name that used to matter to you, but no longer does? Have you made your own name for God? How do these names – meaningful or rejected – shape your efforts to live as a Christian and to be in relationship with God?
