NewsWinter Solstice 2023

Zoom Event on Thursday, December 21, 7-8PM

You are invited to find or write a favorite reading to share, turn off your lights, light a candle, and join us on Zoom as we draw near to the deep darkness.

“I will give you the treasures of darkness
and riches hidden in the secret places,
so that you may know that it is I, the Lord,
the God of Israel, who call you by your name.” (Isaiah 45:3)

Let’s all celebrate and draw near to the official beginning of winter, the Winter Solstice. This night occurs in the Northern Hemisphere when Earth’s poles reach their maximum tilt away from the Sun, causing the shortest day and the longest, darkest night. Waiting in the dark can feel difficult and yet it can also be a time of deep blessing. Treasures can be found in the stillness and depth of the night. Let’s enjoy the comfort of each other’s company as we wait together in the dark, sharing poetry, scripture, and story.
